“The Economic Impact of Liberalization of Barriers in Services in the Europe and Central Asia Regions" funded by the World Bank Institute has resulted in the paper “ Impact of Services Liberalization on Industry Productivity, Exports  and Development: Six Empirical Studies in the Transition Countries” by David Tarr.

GDN invites researchers from developing and transition countries to submit proposals for its 2012 round of the Global Research Competition and receive grants up to US$32,000.

The Spring 2012 round of the economics research competition resulted in 112 new research proposals, involving 189 participants from 12 CIS countries and 61 cities. The deadline was April 12, 2012.

EERC has finished "The Economic Impact of Liberalization of Barriers in Services in the Europe and Central Asia Regions" funded by the World Bank. A competition has been conducted in spring 2010 and 4 workshops have been held with the proposals from 6 countries selected for grants.

EERC's semi-annual research workshops are designed to promote peer-review and exchange of ideas among CIS researchers and a cadre international resource persons. The workshops also constitute a transparent project evaluation mechanism, with specialized teams of distinguished international economists leading the peer-review process, discussing papers and mentoring projects throughout the grant period.

31st Research Workshop

It was held in KSE, Kyiv on December 17 - 19, 2011. A total of 31 projects, including 22 new proposals, 5 interim and 4 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.

As a result of the workshop, 4 projects were recommended for immediate funding and 7 projects - for funding subject to minor revisions. Additional 5 scholars from Russia's regions and the CIS countries were awarded development grants.

It was held in KSE, Kyiv on July 2 - 3, 2011. 6 final reports and 1 interim report were presented and discussed during two days.



30th Research Workshop

It was held in KSE, Kyiv on July 1 - 3, 2011. A total of 31 projects, including 16 new proposals, 8 interim and 7 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.

As a result of the workshop, 3 projects were recommended for immediate funding and 4 projects - for funding subject to minor revisions. Additional 2 scholars from Russia's regions and the CIS countries were awarded development grants.

29th Research Workshop

It was held in KSE, Kyiv on December 18 - 20, 2010. A total of 33 projects, including 19 new proposals, 8 interim and 6 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.

The workshop was held in Lviv on June 26 - 28, 2010. A total of 37 projects, including 17 new proposals, 6 interim and 14 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.

27th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Kyiv on December 19 - 21, 2009. A total of 33 projects, including 19 new proposals, 12 interim and 2 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



26th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Kyiv on June 27 - 29, 2009. A total of 34 projects, including 22 new proposals, 4 interim and 8 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



Inter-regional project on ‘Cities’ by the CIS and the CEE network

A call for proposals was announced on May 7, 2009 by the deadline on June 7,2009. 36 proposals from 16 countries were received. The proposals were evaluated during two grant workshops, one in Kyiv (June 27-29,2009) and one in Prague (August 9-10,2009).. The project team and external experts selected 7 projects  for funding based on proposal quality and geographical and disciplinary diversity, including 3 projects funded by EERC.



25th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Kyiv on December 18 - 20, 2008. A total of 39 projects, including 20 new proposals, 10 interim and 9 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



24th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Odessa on June 27-29, 2008. A total of 29 projects, including 22 new proposals, 5 interim and 2 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



23th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Kyiv on December 14 - 16, 2007. A total of 25  projects, including 18 new proposals, 2 interim and 5 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



22th Research Workshop

It was held in Kiyv on July 7 - 9, 2007. A total of 33 projects, including 16 new proposals, 6 interim and 11 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions. 



Swedish Professorship Award

Funded by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this award was designed to support research activities of returning Ph.D. faculty by providing a research supplement to their regular salary, and to facilitate their involvement in EERC’s networking activities. EERC granted 11 Awards (up to $7, 500) on an annual basis.



21st Research Workshop

It was held in Moscow, on December 15 - 17, 2006. A total of 35 projects, including 16 new proposals, 8 interim and 11 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



20th Research Workshop

It was held in Kiyv on July 8 - 10, 2006. A total of 42 projects, including 26 new proposals, 8 interim and 8 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



19th Research Workshop

The EERC workshop was held in Moscow region on December 13-16, 2005. A total of 38 projects, including 25 new proposals, 7 interim and 6 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions. As a result of the workshop, 3 projects were recommended for immediate funding and 8 projects - for funding subject to minor revisions. Additional 7 scholars from Russia's regions and the CIS countries were awarded development grants.



18th Research Workshop

It was held in Kiyv on July 8 - 10, 2005. A total of 45 projects, including 27 new proposals, 10 interim and 8 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



Multidisciplinary Research and Intermediation Project

The MIR workshop was held in Dakar, Senegal on January 27-28, 2005. It constituted the final review stage for two regional competitions that were held as part of the MIR initiative in the Commonwealth of Independent States and in South Asia. Ten projects (5 from the CIS region and 5 from the South Asia) were selected for presentation in Dakar from among more than 40 submissions. Each research team was able to send two members to the workshop in order for them to present the entire range of methodological approaches that their project is expected to combine.



17th Research Workshop

A total of 45 projects, including 25 new proposals, 10 interim and 10 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions. As a result of the workshop 1 project was recommended for immediate funding and 7 projects - for funding subject to minor revisions. Additional 10 scholars from Russia's regions and the CIS countries were awarded development grants. The workshop was held at the Pokrovskoe training center, (Moscow region) on December 17-19, 2004.



16th Research Workshop

The workshop was held at the Kyiv School of Economics at NaUKMA, 8-11 July, 2004. A total of 43 projects, including 25 new proposals, 10 interim and 8 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions. As a result of the workshop, 3 projects were recommended for immediate funding and 6 projects - for funding subject to minor revisions. Additional seven scholars from Russia's regions and the CIS countries were awarded development.



15th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Moscow on December 19 - 21, 2003. A total of 39 projects, including 19 new proposals, 13 interim and 7 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



14th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Moscow on July 11 - 13, 2003. A total of 50 projects, including 34 new proposals, 8 interim and 8 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



13th Research Workshop

It was held in Moscow, on December 17 - 19, 2002. A total of 49 projects, including 30 new proposals, 8 interim and 11 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



12th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Kyiv on July 11 - 13, 2002. A total of 51  projects, including 27 new proposals, 10 interim and 14 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



11th Research Workshop

The workshop was held in Moscow on December 15 - 17, 2001. A total of 48 projects, including 32 new proposals, 13 interim and 3 final reports, were presented and discussed during three days of parallel sessions.



10th Research Workshop
